Hi Maya!

I wanted to write you a little note about yesterday.

We were talking on the phone and I could tell you wanted to see me. I showed you some girl scout cookies that I bought for you and I told you that I’d bring them to you next time. You looked sad that you had to wait…

I decided to go and surprise you. You were so happy when I showed up at the door! We played a little bit, cleaned up the house, and spent some time together.

It was already late, but you were so excited that you didn’t want to go to bed yet. You “helped me pack” your lunch for the next day (you moved it from your lunch box to your backpack). We ate some snacks (and a little bit of the ice cream cake I got you for your birthday) and played and read a book (twice!).

It was a little cold so I kept wrapping you in a blanket to be “cozy cozy”. You were so happy to play that you kept getting up, but whenever you sat back down, you asked, “do you want blanket, daddy?”

Of course, I sat next to you and shared the blanket. I laid you down and asked if you wanted me to sit next to you or cuddle. You said cuddle, which made me so happy.

In minutes, you fell asleep. We laid together for a bit and I listened to you sleep and breathe gently. I wondered what you were dreaming about.

Soon enough, I picked you up to take you to bed. In your sleep, you said “no, I’m working!”. I said, “I know, My. You are always working.”

I took you to bed and laid with you for a bit. You were very tired and didn’t wake up any more. I covered you with your normal blanket (not the one I brought you upstairs with) and left, because I had to leave.

I know its not an exciting story, but it was very special to me. It was one of the first times where you told me that you wanted to cuddle with me (usually its with mommy, which I understand!) It was just a very sweet, beautiful moment.

I hope we have many, many more.
