little reminders…

You might be curious why there is a picture of the inside of a car.

I took this picture before work this morning, but I wanted to ask…

Do you see anything special? Maybe colorful?

The leaves look orange and pretty, but that’s not it.

Do you see your drums? You love playing those when you’re driving around. You sometimes play them until you fall asleep!

But guess what…

That’s not why I wanted to show you this photo!

(Even though I love having something that reminds me of you wherever I go).

What I really wanted to show you, is right in the middle of the photo.

Do you see that big black part, right in the middle? That’s called “a dashboard”. You might think that’s what I wanted you to see…

But guess what…

That’s still not it!

Look a little closer…

Do you see there’s some dust on the dashboard?

Do you see the little marks, going up and down?

That’s what I want you to see!

You know what that is?

You made that, without even thinking about it. When you were playing in the car, climbing all over. Your fingers drew all those lines, over half a year ago. And I look at it every day, when I drive to work or anywhere else. And it makes me very happy to see it.

You may think its silly. A lot of people probably would.

But just like your drums in the door pocket, I love having little reminders of you wherever I go. I love knowing that you make such a big change in the world already. I know you will make the world better, everywhere you go.

I love that you have already made such big changes in the world, in many ways. And how beautiful you’ve made my life!

I think about all of the things that I want to show you. All of the fun things we can do! I even think about things that some people don’t like… Even going to the dentist or doctor. If it makes you nervous, we can get ice cream after as a treat. Your Babcia and Dziadzio used to do that with me when I was little.

I think about things like learning about animals. Learning about the weather. Or the different seasons. Or even learning math and reading difficult things.

But you’re already knew how to count for a long time. You’re my little genius, after all. You will always be, no matter what.

Look close. Do you see who’s driving?

My favorite little driver. “Beep, beep!” I’ll let you drive, whenever you want.
